Julian Pokroy

Accurate's South African Immigration attorney, Julian Pokroy, is a specialist practitioner in Immigration Law for South Africa. He is an Admitted Attorney of the High Courts of South Africa, Lesotho and Botswana and has been practising Immigration and Nationality Law since 1970.

Amongst his many achievements, Julian Pokroy has been a member of the Immigration Advisory Board since May 2003 and was appointed by the Minister of Home Affairs to head up the Association of Immigration Practitioners of South Africa (AIPSA), of which he was the National Chairperson from June 2003 to June 2004.

Due to his thorough knowledge and expertise in South African Immigration Law, Julian Pokroy served on the Immigrants Selection Board of the Department of Home Affairs from January 1993 to December 1996 and also served on the Parliamentary Task Group which drew up the Green Paper on International Migration in 1996. He has chaired the Immigration and Refugee Specialist Committee of the Law Society of South Africa since its inception and, for the last five years, has chaired the Law Society of the Northern Province's Immigration, Nationality and Refugee Law Committee.

Julian Pokroy is the author of numerous articles on Migration and Human Resource issues and presented the paper "Migration into the 21st Century" at the International Conference held at Parliament in July 2000. He is the regular columnist on Migration issues in the publication HR Future, the "Legal Beagle SA" for the "South Africans Worldwide" website and various other publications and a regular interviewee as an expert panelist on various Radio Stations in South Africa and elsewhere.

  • Chairman of the Immigration Policy Working Group of the South African Chamber of Business (SACOB)

  • Chairman of the Social Affairs and Labour Policy Committee of the Pretoria Chamber of Business with focus on Immigration/Migration issues

  • Vice President of Chamsa Tshwane, the consolidated Chambers of Commerce and Industry for Pretoria and the Greater Tshwane Metropolitan Area, South Africa

  • Member of the Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) Task Group on Migration

  • Chartered Human Resource practitioner (Employment Relations) with the SA Board for personal practice

  • Mentor of the South African Board for Personnel Practice (Registration number P4537)
